Clayton McMichen - The Traditional Years

Here`s a pretty good LP on Clayton McMichen. If you know anything at all about him, you`ll know he was a member of the old string band, Gid Tanner & The Skillet Lickers. If you know a little more about him, you may know he played on some Jimmie Rodgers records and even wrote one of his most popular songs, Peach Pickin` Time In Georgia. What this LP deals with is more of  what I`d call "just McMichen" recordings, that is records that had featured or soloed McMichen. He was literally on hundreds of 78`s from 1925 through 1939. I would even venture to say that he may have been on more 78`s than any other country artist (except maybe Vernon Dalhart) if you count all the records he recorded a sort of a studio artist. So, download and enjoy!

  2. I just posted the tune off a 78 I have. If you download it you will also get a bonus of the tune from the other side. If you don`t see the post, just search "correction for Clayton" in the search box at the top left of the blog page.
