Cecil Campbell - Greatest Hawaiian Instrumentals

Today is the coldest day we have had here at home so far this fall, so I thought some Hawaiian music would warm me up. This truly does have some of the greatest Hawaiian tunes on it. Cecil Campbell was one of the greatest country lap steel players. He was sort of like Bashful Brother Oswald on the dobro in that his style sort of bridged the gap between country and Hawaiian music. As we know, steel guitar dominated country sound from the mid 1940`s on through the 1960`s, and especially in the 1950`s with the piercing tone in most country bands. The lap steel was the very first electric instrument invented and here is a good record as a sample of that early sound----Enjoy!

  2. Thanks so much for this, for the banjo music, and for the great Jimmie Driftwood records. Sure wish I could find a copy of his "New Orleans" album. That's a beauty. All the best,

    Iggy
